Jane Irene (Ritter) Lawson, 92, of Port Orchard died March 10, 2012. Born in Middletown , Ohio on April 27, 1919 where she graduated from high school in 1937, she married 1st Lt. Frank Lawson in August 1943. They lived in Ohio much of their adult lives but moved to Gig Harbor , WA in 1978 to be nearer their two sons. They retired to Bradenton , Florida in 1986 and lived there until shortly after her husband's death in 2007, when she moved to Port Orchard, Washington. Jane was June Cleaver's closest rival with a husband and two sons in her household. But unlike Jane, Mrs. Cleaver never found her husband's fishing worms in her refrigerator, or her older son's pet owl in her basement or a freshly hatched praying mantis cocoon in her younger son's underwear drawer. She treasured times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren right up to her dying day. She realized one of her life-long dreams when she travelled to Hawaii for her 90th birthday, where she romped on the beach and even got a ride from the beach to the parking lot on the back of the lifeguard's dune buggy. She loved Fergus, her son's Labrador Retriever, as well as sewing, quilting, needle crafts, crossword puzzles, and avidly followed Duke University basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Mariners and Seahawks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Frank, and her sisters Caroline Petrocy and Joan Ritter of Ohio . She is survived by her sister Jean Allen of Dayton , Ohio , two sons, Dr. Tim Lawson of Pasadena , and Kevin Lawson of Port Orchard, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Monday, March 19th at Stafford Suites, 1761 Pottery Ave , Port Orchard, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Kitsap County, WA.
