Maria Anna Picinich

Maria Anna Picinich, 92 years, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2016 at Villa Cynthia's Adult Family Home in University Place. Maria was the widow of Nicolo (Miko) Picinich. Miko and Maria shared 51 years of marriage. Maria was the last living sibling of 10 children.

Born in Susak, Croatia, Maria and Miko immigrated to Gig Harbor, Washington in October, 1955. Maria is survived by her children, John (Nancy) Picinich, Nick (Sherry) Picinich, and Rita (Danny) Stene. Maria was a loving and devoted Grandma (Nona) to 6 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren.

Maria will be remembered for her love of Jesus, family, and friends - and her enjoyment of cooking/baking - gnocchi, Easter bread, and polenta. She also loved to walk in the harbor, and tend to her garden of vegetables and flowers.

Graveside services were held for immediate family.

The family of Maria wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Villa Cynthia's Adult Family Home, Franciscan Home Hospice, Dr. Sabrina Benjamin, and ARNP Peggy Sackmann - these professionals gave Maria exceptional and compassionate care.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Christian School (3008 - 36th Street NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98335).
