Peggy Violet (O'Malley) Mawhinney Obituary (1936

Peggy O'Malley Mawhinney, 79, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday the 12th of September in Tacoma, WA. She is survived by her children Howard (Leanne) of Bellevue, WA, Sandra (Jerry) of Tacoma, WA, Richard (Maureen) of Ocean Shores, WA, Patrick (Katharine) of Sherwood, OR; her nine grandchildren; her companion David and countless dear friends. Peggy was born to Archie and Violet O'Malley on February 22nd 1936 in Tacoma, WA. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. She lived nearly her entire life in the south end of Tacoma, dating back to a time when many farms could be found in the area. Since 1959, Peggy was employed by the Boeing Company where she held a wide variety of positions, a testament to her 55 years with the company. Her responsibilities included serving as a documents currier leading her to locations around the country and abroad. In her last years at Boeing, Peggy enjoyed being part of the team that finalized the receipt of aircraft to their commercial customers. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, and traveling. Peggy was a fantastic chef who enjoyed entertaining any and all that visited. Her home was always open to all and if near a holiday, she was quick to extend an invitation to share a meal and her warm welcome. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
