Randy Newman

Sherman Randall "Randy" Newman, age 78, of Gig Harbor, Washington, passed away on October 4, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Sherman Edward "Bud" Newman and Patricia Ann Mooneyham. He resided for many years in Gig Harbor, Washington, having previously lived in Portland, Oregon and in several towns across the Pacific NW.

Randy graduated from Bellingham High School and Western Washington University. He enjoyed his career as an accountant in the timber industry, and while in retirement used his skills to support the Northview Terrace Association Board. Randy loved sports, music, books, and history and his keen memory enabled him to excel at trivia, cards and strategy board games. He was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments, attending their events and spending time with them over the holidays.

Randy is survived by son Eric (Joy) Newman, daughters Amy (Mark) Hammingh and Julie (Aaron) Van Fleet, and his grandchildren Angelique Newman, Sarah Newman, Alexander Hammingh, Nicholas Van Fleet, Aislinn Hammingh, and Austin Van Fleet, as well as stepdaughter Alisha (Jason) Marsh, grandchildren Tristan Hunter, Andrea Hunter and several great grandchildren.
