Gig Harbor, Washington
Thomas Francis Walsh III -- born on May 11, 1936, in Malden, Massachusetts and residing in Gig Harbor, Washington, for the latter part of his life -- passed away on August 9, 2026. Thomas was a dedicated person, a trait which shined through in all aspects of his life. From his successful career in securities trading to his personal interest in all things aviation, not to mention the Boston Red Sox and Bruins, he demonstrated an unwavering dedication that set him apart.
Thomas, or Tom as he was affectionately known, was a man who wore many hats, but his most gratifying role was being a loving father and grandfather. He was generous and funny, with a quick wit that could lighten any mood, and he was fiercely loyal, especially to his family. His dedication to his career as a Securities Trading Manager in the brokerage sector led him to great success -- both in Boston and San Francisco, before retiring to the Pacific Northwest to be near family -- but it was his unwavering devotion to his loved ones that was his greatest achivement. His children, Mark and Lisa, his daughter-in-law, Sheri, his grandchildren, Blake and Taylor, and his great-grandchildren, Quinn and Noah, were the center of his world.
In his leisure time, Tom took to the skies, his major passion being flying airplanes, including the T33 jet. As Leonardo Da Vinci proclaimed, "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." This quote perfectly encapsulates Tom's love for aviation.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. Walsh, Jr., and Katherine Finnegan Walsh, his sister, Patricia M. Hindes, as well as his former wife, Marcia Parish. He is survived by his children Mark and Lisa, his daughter-in-law Sheri, his grandchildren Blake and Taylor, and his great-grandchildren Quinn and Noah.
We encourage those who knew Thomas to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page, as a way to celebrate his life and the immense love he held for those who were most important to him.
